APE 2026 brought together some of the sharpest minds in scholarly communication for two days of candid, high-stakes conversation in Berlin.

Under the theme “Scholarly Communication at a Turning Point – Time to Build What’s Next”, more than 30 speakers from publishing, academia, libraries, and policy explored the forces reshaping research: the rise of AI, growing threats to academic freedom, questions of global equity, and the ongoing challenge of maintaining research integrity in a post-truth era.
